Begin with identification
Keep the implement identity, configuration and available manual reference together. Record the manual revision if it is shown. If identification is missing, ask the supplier how the correct service information will be established.
Separate history from a new observation
A previous owner’s record, a supplier statement and your own observation are different sources. Note who supplied each item and the date. Receiving a service record does not by itself confirm the present condition.
Prepare questions rather than repair instructions
- Which inspection or maintenance information applies to this exact implement?
- What documented work has already been carried out?
- Which parts or consumables need exact identification?
- Which current observations need qualified review?
- Which records or explanations remain unavailable?
Keep operation and repair decisions out of a generic worksheet
Follow the applicable instructions and obtain competent help for inspection, maintenance or operation. Keep a dated record of work actually carried out, the source of the instructions and any follow-up item.
